I bought a home and moved here with my husband in 1996, and we have raised two children here. Over the years I have come to know the various parts of our community, from the young families with children who are served by the elementary school, to the retired folks who choose to live in this beautiful valley, and everyone in between.
I started teaching at Morongo Valley Elementary School five years ago but was a substitute teacher for ten years before that. I am currently teaching Grade 2, but most recently I have taught Grade 1, Kindergarten, Grades 4 & 5, and grade 6. A large part of my teaching style centers around community, what it is and how it works. I have lived in states from coast to coast, and I have deep pride in my ability to accept others as they are and to be able to see the merits of differing opinions. I believe in civility and the democratic processes which allow us to manage, maintain, and change our lives and surroundings to be the best they can be for all members of the community.
I have been involved in many ways over the years. I have led a Girl Scout troop here. I have had and currently have elderly clients with the county’s IHSS program. I get together with my neighbors on a regular basis for mutual support as well as celebrations. I also love to read, do artwork like beading and stained glass, and sing with the High Desert Master Chorale.
